“Netflix is one of the few companies to escape the coronavirus pandemic unscathed, with its shares rallying 33% this year as people turn to streaming platforms to beat the lockdown blues. But with success comes risk. The current situation has exacerbated the divide between traditional broadcasters and digital TV as consumers desert cable providers to ease pressure on their budgets.
According to Bloomberg, the big four US pay-TV providers lost nearly two million customers in the last quarter alone. Netflix acknowledged in its annual report that lawsuits against it have risen alongside business growth. Given the increasing schism between streaming platforms and cable TV, the company has a target on its back now more than ever…”
