Techson August Newsletter - Christmas Trees to CLEs

Techson Announces Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Courses

Techson is excited to announce that we are accepting invitations to provide our CLE courses to groups of attorneys at law firms, and at events for local bar and IP trade associations.  Our instructors have extensive experience in patent and trademark research, IP commercialization, IP data, intellectual asset management, and legal process outsourcing.

Our courses are being accredited by the State Bar of Texas, and we are happy to work with you to pursue accreditation in your jurisdiction. Let us know if you’d be interested in scheduling us for your next CLE-related event: info@techsonip.com

Researcher Profile – Christmas Trees to Patent Researcher Extraordinaire

David Nickelson, Director of Research, Techson IP david@techsonip.com

David is the newest member of Techson IP, joining the company in June as Director of Research. David was born in the small Michigan coastal town of Ludington along the Eastern Lake Michigan shoreline. There he worked for the family Christmas tree farm while taking an interest in math and science, playing sports, and enjoying the outdoor activities Northern Michigan is known for.

Following his graduation from the University of Michigan (“Go Blue”) with a Chemical Engineering degree, David worked as a sales and applications engineer before attending law school at the University of Miami in Florida.

He began his career in the intellectual property field more than a dozen years ago in patent research. David quickly developed a reputation as an exceptionally skilled searcher and worked into roles as a Senior Analyst and Project Manager. David is among the top patent researchers in the United States with his experience, grasp of broad technology sectors, and record of customer satisfaction! He can tackle chemE, ME, EE, semiconductor, and medical device searches with a proficiency that is rare among patent researchers.

In his role with Techson, David works directly on search projects, assists clients in meeting research objectives, and helps develop and refine our technology platform (see below) to make patent research more accurate and efficient. David is a very adaptive and creative researcher, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have him on our team.

David resides in Florida and spends several weeks each summer in the great state of Montana, taking advantage of the ability to work from virtually anywhere afforded to us in this digital age.

HIPLA – Still time to register for Houston IP Law Association Fall Institute

Techson is a sponsor this year for the 2018 Fall Institute in Galveston. We expect to see all of you South Texas folks there, y’all.

As a reminder – from HIPLA:

The 2018 Annual Fall Institute on Intellectual Property Law will be held on September 27-29, 2018, at the Moody Gardens hotel in Galveston, Texas. HIPLA has put on the Fall Institute in association with the University of Houston for the past thirty-four years, and we are planning an exciting, not-to-be-missed program for 2018. This year's keynote speaker is Dennis D. Crouch, associate professor of law at the University of Missouri School of Law. Professor Crouch is the founder and lead author of the nation's leading patent law blog/resource, Patently0.

Project Limestone Update – Our SaaS Patent Research Platform

We’re happy to report we’ve begun to test the internal beta of our new platform – and it’s smokin’ fast.  The results are (positively) surprising our most experienced and discerning researchers – most of whom have used every search platform under the sun.

Limestone allows experts and novices alike to execute very powerful and expedient patent research.  In fact, we can complete a comprehensive patentability search in less time than it takes to read this paragraph.

Limestone delivers a refreshing user experience that is intuitive, and that requires (very) little training to use.  Moreover, we have leveraged our technology to achieve two groundbreaking research techniques that will set us apart from the feature race that consumes the market. The search for a great patent research platform will, hopefully, soon be over.

If you are ready for a demo, good – we’ll be ready in a couple weeks; so, ping us to get in the queue. info@techsonip.com
