Halloween Candy Too Tempting? There's a Mask for that!
by: David Nickelson, Director of Research
Halloween is upon us! Perhaps you're the type who has been purchasing candy to pass out to neighborhood kids for three months, and eating most of it. Maybe you're the popular house on the block that gives out full sized candy bars. Perhaps you're the type who forgets to buy candy and has to resort to passing out Keurig cups to confused children dressed as ghouls and ghosts.
Whether it's candy that you've purchased or candy your kids bring home, it's likely that you'll be faced with the temptation of a bucket-full of sugary treats tonight and over the next few days. While some are great at resisting this temptation, many need help resisting the urge to down that fourth box of Nerds. Fortunately, the world of patents has a solution!
In 1982, inventor Lucy Barmby obtained a patent for an 'Anti-Eating Face Mask,' with images shown above that would look right at home on Hanibal Lecter in the movie “Silence of the Lambs”.
From the looks of it, not only would the mask prevent its wearer from eating any candy, but it'd serve as a Halloween costume by itself and send any trick-or-treaters screaming in terror back down the walkway as soon as you open the door. Two birds with one stone, Clarice…
Have a happy and safe Halloween from all of us here at Techson!
